Our History
Davina’s Swim School is woman and family owned and operated! Davina is the matriarch of the family and her daughter’s (Elease, Leslie, and Christina) with her. Davina’s husband’s support has also helped this become the success that it is today.
It all began with Davina’s dad, David. Back in the late ‘70’s he discovered a unique technique that allowed children to learn to swim. His approach centered around form, and it led to much success in teaching children to swim.
His approach was then honed over the year’s by Davina and her sister. They used the form and technique he discovered, but the more they taught, they realized that a child’s fear could literally drown him even if he technically knew HOW to swim.
We have heard hundreds of stories about how this method has saved children’s lives, and we’ve seen countless parents amazed at how their child has been able to overcome fear through our school.
Mrs. Davina’s Swim School’s passion is to see children overcome their fear and find the fun in swimming, and we hope that you’ll trust us to help your child find success in the water!
Our Method
We have two things that our school has been built around: technique and eradicating fear.
We use specific techniques that we’ve discovered over the years to help take children from barely moving in the water to easily swimming through the water.
We teach everyone from ages 3.5 to adult. Our approach allows us to take a child from fear to fun, from fun-loving to capable, and from capable to proficient.
Eradicating fear is the biggest, most crucial part of our teaching process. Over the last 30 years of teaching, we’ve come to realize that it’s more important to find and overcome fear of the water rather than just focus on ways to get from point A to point B.
A child’s success in swimming actually propels them toward success in other areas of life and we are honored to help them with this process.
